I am Karen De Coninck. Since January 2016 I am a PhD candidate at the Department of Educational Studies at Ghent University under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ruben Vanderlinde.
My PhD project focuses on the assessment and the development of student teachers’ competences regarding parent-teacher communication. In particular, my research aims to advance theoretical and empirical insight into the design, the implementation, and the effectiveness of clinical simulations to prepare student teachers for this important professional task.
I obtained my Master’s degree in Educational Sciences at Ghent University in 2014. Afterwards, I was part of a one-year research project focusing on human resource practices in Flemish primary and secondary education.
