Status
I am Karolien Keppens. Since January 2016 I am a PhD candidate at the department of Educational Studies at Ghent university under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ruben Vanderlinde, Prof. Dr. Els Consuegra (VUB) and Prof. Dr. Sven De Maeyer (UA).
PhD project
My PhD project is part of the Flemish POTENTIAL (Power To Teach All) Project. My research focuses on student teachers’ competence development regarding teaching in inclusive primary education. In particular, I focus on the assessment and development of student teachers’ competences to create inclusive learning environments by using videography. Therefore, my research project aims to gain theoretical and empirical insight in the effectiveness of video-based assessment on student teachers’ competence development regarding teaching in inclusive classrooms.
Background information
I obtained my Master’s degree in Educational Sciences at Ghent University in 2015. Afterwards, I worked as a Research & Developer at vzw SODA+. In January 2015, I became a member of the board at vzw SODA+.
